Database

At the present time, because of changes made to the servers at my university after my retirement and move to France, the database portion of this site is no longer available to users. As of early 2021, efforts are underway to repair this functionality.

  • The corpus itself is in XML format, and the tools that allow one to conduct searches in it are not especially complicated. However, at this time, concordance-style searches in the web version of the database are not supported.
  • Web users do, however, have access to a verb database tool. One uses it by defining search criteria for a series of specified fields, allowing the user to display, for example, all forms that are first-person, present indicative and whose lemmas end in -er. See the list of lemmas currently represented in the database.
  • At a later time, the Linguistic Corpus of Old Gascon will provide a general search option that will allow the user to call up linguistic forms of any kind using Boolean operators (e.g., a display of all forms in the corpus that end in -ora or -ore).
